Ashley Young has said in an interview on official Manchester United website that he is looking forward to returning to his former club Watford this Saturday.
The 30-year old graduated from the Watford academy ranks and played for the Hornets whilst they were in the Championship and was part of the team that won the play-off final in 2006, beating Leeds United 3-0 to be promoted to the Premier League.
I’m really looking forward to going back. It’s the club where I started and learnt my trade and, hopefully, it’ll be a nice reception… a better one than I get at Aston Villa anyway!
He left for Aston Villa in 2007 and then joined the Red Devils four years ago. He credits the Hornets for helping him get to this position, and warned that it would not be an easy game on Sunday:
It won’t be an easy match. A lot of people wrote them off at the start of the season but they’re a team that works hard and gets players on the ball, and they score goals.
Watford are currently 11th in the Premier League, ahead of both Norwich and Bournemouth who were also promoted last season. Their striker Odion Ighalo is joint-second in the goalscoring charts so far this season.
