Ince – Midfielders should leave United

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Ince believes that Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini do not suit the club and therefore should leave Old Trafford.

Ince, who made 281 appearances for United and won six major trophies during his six years at the club, made his beliefs clear during an interview with 888poker.com.

Herrera has become a fan favourite during his time at the Theatre of Dreams but has struggled to cement his status as a first-team regular under Louis van Gaal, while Fellaini has been ridiculed by United fans at times and has only made one start for the Reds this season.

Regarding the Spaniard, Ince felt that he was more suited to the Spanish game rather than the physical style employed in the Premier League:

I thought it was a lot of money and when I first saw him he was small and looked quite weak. I watched him play in Spain and he suits the Spanish game but I don’t think he suits Manchester United. When he plays he gets forward and gets a couple of goals but van Gaal has gone for two strong ones sitting in there and it’s hard for him to fit in.

I’m not sure he’s going to be a regular in a Louis van Gaal side and although he’s a very good player he’s just more suited to Spain.

And Ince feels that the big Belgian is at the wrong club, stating:

With Fellaini I think he’s a very intelligent player but he’s at the wrong club. For a player of that ability to come on for the last ten minutes in every game more or less just for long balls…I think he’s better than that and he deserves a chance.

It’s also a sad indictment of United not creating enough chances when they have to throw him on and put balls into the box.
