Andre Schürrle claims that Manchester United’s fear factor still exists going into the must-win game against Louis van Gaal’s side.
The German international joined Wolfsburg last summer and cost Die Wolves £22 million.
It’s been a rather poor start to the season for the 25-year-old, who missed the opening two games with a thigh injury but since then he has failed to make an impact. This season, he is yet to find the net but has three assists in 13 games.
But Schurrle believes that Manchester United are a team that still drive fear into their opponents. He has been quoted saying in Manchester Evening News:
I wouldn’t say that United’s fear factor has decreased. You are still speaking of a big club with great players.
Schürrle is surprised at the barren run in front of goal that United are going through, but he still believes they are a great team:
You always have to look at the current situation obviously but they are they are still a great team who win matches.
Last weekend, Wolfsburg were left disappointed after they fell victim to a last-minute winner from former United man Shinji Kagawa.
The winger believes that Dieter Hecking’s style of play can help them secure a win against the three-time Champions League winners:
But we have a good playing style and we know how to play against teams like this. We have to be offensive.
We know it will be difficult to get the ball and we have to be aggressive to get the ball. But the game and qualification is in our own hands and we know we can do it.
If Wolfsburg beat the Red Devils and PSV overcome the threat of CSKA Moscow then it will mean Europa League football for Louis van Gaal’s side. If they fail to make it into the Knockout stage it will only be the second time since 1994/95 that Manchester United have failed to qualify for the second phase.
