Wayne Rooney and Morgan Schneiderlin will both miss Manchester United’s crucial Champions League clash against Wolfsburg tomorrow.
The captain missed United’s 0-0 draw against West Ham at the weekend with an ankle injury, while the French midfielder was taken off on the stroke of half-time at Old Trafford with a hip problem that was serious enough for him not to make Louis van Gaal’s squad for this vital game.
The pair joins Marcos Rojo, Ander Herrera, Phil Jones, Antonio Valencia and Luke Shaw on the sidelines, as the Reds take a 19-man squad to Germany for a do or die encounter at the Volkswagen Arena.

Paddy McNair makes the trip to Germany despite being taken off at half-time on Saturday with an ankle injury, which may make him a doubt to make the bench. Guillermo Varela, who replaced McNair for his United debut, also makes the squad.
He is one of several youngsters in the squad, along with Sean Goss and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson. Nick Powell also makes van Gaal’s squad for the first time since recovering from a long-term hamstring injury and is set to receive his fourth squad number as in many seasons.
United squad:
Goalkeepers: David de Gea, Sergio Romero
Defenders: Paddy McNair, Chris Smalling, Guillermo Varela, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Daley Blind, Matteo Darmian
Midfielders: Bastian Schweinsteiger, Michael Carrick, Sean Goss, Nick Powell, Ashley Young, Jesse Lingard, Andreas Pereira, Juan Mata
Forwards: Memphis Depay, Marouane Fellaini, Anthony Martial
