“We want to be in Wembley”
Those six words are huge – they underline what is left of Manchester United’s season: an FA Cup quarter-final replay against West Ham United on Wednesday night.
Juan Mata’s weekly blog is much of a muchness following a loss, but this week’s edition addresses the fact that Manchester United’s season is nearly over – and how the tombstone will be set down should United lose at the Boleyn Ground on Wednesday. Of course, the Spanish midfielder doesn’t put it in such harsh words, but that’s what it boils down to.

Mata insists that the sickening defeat against Tottenham Hotspur must not remain in the minds of the players as they prepare for the midweek fixture against the Hammers.
The Spaniard describes the Lilywhites first goal as “painful”, before going on to say that it’s a good thing the FA Cup replay is so soon, as it gives the team no time to dwell on or feel sorry for themselves over Sunday’s awful result.
On the game against West Ham, he writes:
“It’s actually one of the most important games of the season” “We must be aware that in [the] Boleyn Ground we have a fantastic opportunity to make it to Wembley and give our fans what they deserve: a reason for joy this season.”

He also writes “let’s forget those seven minutes as soon as possible”. Good idea, Juan. Good idea.
