Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has been included in the PFA Team of the Year for the third time in the last four seasons.
The Spaniard is the sole representative from this United side, as was the case in the 2014-15 Team of the Year.
De Gea is well deserving of his place in the team, having kept 14 clean sheets in the Premier League this term, as well as making several key saves throughout the season. Many of his contributions have both won and saved points for the Reds in the current campaign.

The two sides equally share eight of the side’s eleven players, with Leicester’s Wes Morgan, N’Golo Kante, Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy included, as well as Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld, Danny Rose, Dele Alli and Harry Kane.
The lack of United players in the team is an unfortunate reflection of the club’s decline in recent seasons, with the last outfield selection of a Reds player coming in the 2012-13 title winning campaign. Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick and Robin van Persie were all chosen in that season’s Team of the Year, as well as De Gea.

However, other than Chris Smalling and perhaps Daley Blind, no United player can feel genuinely aggrieved about their omission from the Team of the Year.
