Team News – Manchester United v Everton

Louis van Gaal has no new injury worries ahead of Manchester United’s FA Cup semi-final against Everton on Saturday.

The only confirmed absentees ahead of the clash at Wembley are Luke Shaw, who continues his recovery from a broken leg, Adnan Januzaj, who has to regain match fitness before making an appearance for the Reds, and Bastian Schweinsteiger, who is not expected to play for United after injuring his knee.

Speaking to MUTV in his weekly interview, Van Gaal confirmed that he had a full complement of players to select from:

The squad is nearly fit. Only Shaw and Schweinsteiger are unable to play and maybe Januzaj because he didn’t play yet in the second team. But we have a full squad of fit players.

Chris Smalling did pick up a knock in the closing stages of the victory against Crystal Palace on Wednesday, but he ruled himself fit for the trip to Wembley in a post-match interview with MUTV, saying:

Yeah, I’ll be fine. It was just a 50/50 and he caught me after, but it’s nothing serious.

Van Gaal also said that it would be difficult to pick a squad for the clash against the Toffees, adding that there would be six disappointed players on Saturday:

Every player wants to play in a semi-final. I have to select 18 players and I have now 24 players fit so I have to disappoint six players and that is not fine for a manager.
