United’s last five FA Cup semi-finals

Manchester United play in their first FA Cup semi-final since 2011, when they take on Everton at Wembley on Saturday.

Louis van Gaal’s side will be looking to see off Roberto Martinez’s men in the pursuit of a twelfth victory in the world’s oldest cup competition and therefore drawing level with Arsenal for the most FA Cup wins.

Over the years, United have been involved in some memorable FA Cup semi-final ties, most notably in 1999, when Ryan Giggs’ wonder goal in the last ever semi-final replay against Arsenal saw the Reds advance to the final on their way to a famous Treble.

However, United’s record in recent FA Cup semi-finals has been mixed and the Reds have famously never won a single semi-final either at the old Wembley or the newly refurbished one.

But they will be looking to rectify that record when they take on the Toffees, who have endured a topsy-turvy season under Martinez and both teams know that this is their best chance of silverware.
