Varela to be loaned to German side Eintracht Frankfurt

22-year-old right-back Guillermo Varela will leave Manchester United to join Eintracht Frankfurt on loan, according to ESPN.

The Uruguayan is behind the likes of Matteo Darmian, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Antonio Valencia in the Man Utd team. He hasn’t made a single appearance during a preseason match so far and has been training away from the first-team so far.

Eintracht Frankfurt, who narrowly escaped dropping out of the Bundesliga last season, are set to bring in Varela on loan with an option to buy at the end of the 2016/17 season.

The right-back joined the Red Devils from Uruguay side Penarol three years ago and had previously been on loan to Real Madrid’s reserve squad. He made 11 appearances across all competitions under Louis Van Gaal last season but has recently been out of the side.

While Man Utd have signed Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan so far this season, there haven’t been many departures so far this summer. Multiple players have been linked to an exit away from the side, however.
