World football’s best and fiercest managerial rivals are back in the same league – but we won’t have to wait until August to see sparks fly! Manchester United take on Manchester City at the Bird’s Nest in Beijing on Monday, with Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola at the helms of the respective ships.
The International Champions Cup encounter comes as a timely assessment of Mourinho’s men; it is from this game that he will likely learn the most, although it is doubtful that the match will be played out in the same way as it would back in Manchester, when taking into account the unforgiving heat in China – and poor quality of the pitch.
Both sides have made major signings already this summer – but which eleven men would start, if the two squads were in fact one? Here’s our combined eleven, in a 4-2-2-2 formation… with plenty of big names missing out!
