Manchester United will once again be involved in a testimonial match tomorrow night, as the club honours captain Wayne Rooney with a friendly against his boyhood club Everton at Old Trafford.
Both sides are expect to field competitive teams in order to fine tune their preparations ahead of the Premier League season, but all proceeds from the match will be donated to charity by the Wayne Rooney Foundation.
United have been involved in many testimonials over the years, honouring the service of players who have enjoyed lengthy careers, as well as being involved in some of the club’s most pivotal moments. Rooney is the latest man to receive this honour, having made 520 appearances for the Reds and is now just four short of equalling Sir Bobby Charlton’s long-standing goalscoring record.
