Manchester United’s last five opening day fixtures

The opening day of the Premier League is the one fixture every fan looks forward when the calendar is announced and three points in the first match could well be a catalyst for a successful season, while a loss could well kickstart a season to forget.

This season, Manchester United kick-off the Premier League season with a trip to the South coast to face Bournemouth in José Mourinho’s first league game in charge as Reds boss on Sunday 14th August.

United have won two of their last three opening day fixtures away from home, but the last time the Reds kicked off the season on the road, they would go on to have one of the worst seasons in recent memory. One hopes that Mourinho will not go the way of David Moyes and United fans will be expecting a quick start with a relatively favourable fixture list to start off with.
