Manchester United kick off their Europa League campaign on Thursday night, when they travel to Rotterdam to face Feyenoord in their first Group A game.
The match will be the first of three consecutive away trips for United and with a busy September in store for José Mourinho’s side, the United boss has decided to rest a number of his key players, including captain Wayne Rooney.
Antonio Valencia, Luke Shaw, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Jesse Lingard have also been left out of the squad that travelled to the Netherlands on Wednesday afternoon, which means a number of places will be up for grabs amongst the United players who have been on the fringes of the side at the start of the season.
With United losing their first match of the season in the Manchester derby on Saturday, Mourinho will be looking for a strong response from his players, although Feyenoord will provide stern opposition, having won five games on the trot to start the Eredivisie season.
