Manchester United look to cap off an eventful 2016 with a win at Old Trafford over 15th placed Middlesbrough.
United will be looking to make it five wins from five to round off an impressive December campaign, against a ‘Boro side who’ve managed only one win in their last four outings.
Manager Jose Mourinho will be without captain Wayne Rooney for the New Year’s Eve fixture, as well as Luke Shaw who is returning from injury. Eric Bailly is set to return to the squad.
The clash will be the first time to two teams have met in the Premier League since 2008, when two goals from Afonso Alves helped Middlesbrough snatch a draw at the Riverside stadium. The meeting at Old Trafford earlier that season saw United run out 4-1 winners.
