Jose Mourinho has his eyes on the prize – with Sunday’s offering being the EFL Cup, a trophy United haven’t won since 2010.
Wayne Rooney scored that day – and will be involved again this time round as United face Southampton at Wembley.
That much has been confirmed by Jose Mourinho, but the Portuguese manager wouldn’t reveal whether or not Rooney, who has been out injured and the focus of transfer specualation, will start.
Rooney himself denied rumours that he may move to China before the end of February and is firmly in contention for a starting place against the Saints as the sides descend on London.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan is unavailable having picked up a hamstring injury against St-Etienne in midweek, but Michael Carrick is ready for selection after shaking off an injury of his own picked up against the French side on Wednesday.
So who will start at Wembley? Here’s our prediction…
