Like they did last summer with the world-record addition of Paul Pogba from Juventus and the statement signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Manchester United want to make some eye-catching splashes in the transfer market this summer.
For many years, United fans have dreamed about the possibility of bringing Cristiano Ronaldo back to the club from Real Madrid but in light of recent reports that he’s decided to call time on his tenure at the Bernabeu, that dream could become a reality.
Twitter: Cristiano Ronaldo interested in the possibility of returning to Manchester United this summer.
Told United are still very close to his heart (@SkyKaveh)
According to Kaveh Solhekol of Sky Sports, Ronaldo still holds United very close to his heart and is interested in the possibility of returning to Old Trafford this summer.
The 32-year-old left United for a then world-record fee of £80m back in 2009 and has hit record-breaking heights at Real Madrid.
Madrid are understandably unwilling to let their greatest ever goalscorer leave the club this summer and he’s still tied down at the club until 2021, but a player of his stature could still force his way out of Madrid.
United will at the front of the queue to land Ronaldo if he becomes available this summer, but it’s easier said than done to complete a transfer of this magnitude.
