Although they will play Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup on Tuesday 8th August, United’s last official ‘pre-season’ game takes place on Wednesday night (2nd August).
The Red Devils will line up against Serie A side Sampdoria in Dublin on Wednesday, with kick-off at 19:45 BST, and the game being shown live on MUTV, as with the rest of the side’s pre-season fixtures.
Jose Mourinho is likely to pick the same or a similar starting eleven to the side he wants to start in the Super Cup game against La Liga and Champions League winners Real Madrid.
The game against the Italian outfit represents a last chance for players to impress their way into the side against Real, and looking further ahead, the Portuguese manager’s starting eleven for the opening Premier League game.
United’s previous pre-season fixtures included wins over Manchester City and Real Madrid, before a narrow loss to Barcelona and most recently, a 3-0 win over Valerenga.
Marouane Fellaini, Romelu Lukaku and Scott McTominay all scored against the Norwegian side in what was very much a display dominated by United’s increasingly towering squad, with Paul Pogba also putting in a wonderful display.
Here is the full United squad to face Sampdoria:
Goalkeepers:
- David de Gea
- Joel Pereira
Defenders:
- Antonio Valencia
- Timothy Fosu-Mensah
- Chris Smalling
- Eric Bailly
- Axel Tuanzebe
- Victor Lindelof
- Phil Jones
- Daley Blind
- Matteo Darmian
Midfielders:
- Scott McTominay
- Marouane Fellaini
- Michael Carrick
- Nemanja Matic
- Andreas Pereira

Most notable here is that Nemanja Matic could make his United debut! After being rested vs Valerenga, David de Gea returns to the squad and Sergio Romero takes his turn out of the action, keeping with the constant rotation of the three ‘keepers during pre-season.
