Here we go again! Another season kicks off in earnest for Manchester United on Tuesday night, as they take on Champions League winners Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup in the traditional curtain-raiser to the European footballing season.
For José Mourinho, this will be a crucial test for the Reds to see where they are at in comparison to Europe’s best ahead of their return to the Champions League this season, as well as fine-tuning preparations for West Ham’s visit to Old Trafford on Sunday to start the Premier League season.
Alongside that, Mourinho will be jumping at the chance to add to his and United’s trophy cabinet, with the Super Cup one of the few trophies he has not yet won in his illustrious career. United have only won the Super Cup once as well, having lost on the two previous occasions they have taken part.
However, it will be a tough task against Zinedine Zidane’s men, and United will be missing Eric Bailly and Phil Jones in defence, who are both suspended for the encounter in Skopje.
So, will it be the traditional 4-3-3 or the three at the back variant that Mourinho has tested in pre-season that will be the formation of choice on Tuesday night? Here’s our predicted eleven:
