Manchester United completed the signing of Alexis Sanchez in January and it’s been announced that he broke the club’s existing record for shirt sales and social media interactions, according to Sky Sports.
Sanchez joined the club as part of a deal which also took midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the opposite direction.
United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward revealed the figures of the club in a reference conference call earlier today.

Woodward also reported that the deal to bring Sanchez to the club had created a bigger social interaction than that of Neymar when he completed the move to PSG from Barcelona last summer.
United pipped rivals Manchester City to the post in signing the player, who scored his first goal for the club at the weekend against Huddersfield after firing in the rebound after he saw his spot kick saved.
Woodward said about the players arrival:
Alexis Sanchez has set a new January signing record in terms of shirt sales – three times that previous record.
This trade (Sanchez’s move to United) generated some interesting social media stats.

He continued and went on to add.
It was the biggest United post on Instagram with two million likes and comments, the most shared United Facebook post ever, the most retweeted United post ever and #Alexis7 was the number one trending topic on Twitter worldwide.
To put all that into context, the announcement posts generated 75 per cent more interaction than the sale of the world’s most expensive player last summer when Neymar moved from Barcelona to PSG.
