De Gea has been continuously linked with moves away from the club with Real Madrid following the player, but manager Jose Mourinho has made it top of his priority to secure a deal for him.

Madrid’s interest in the Spanish star has been longstanding and talk about his future has been constant, hence why he sits at number six on the Transfer Hound’s Hot-O-Meter.

As a result, De Gea is set to overtake German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer as the highest earning goalkeeper in the world as he currently picks up €15 million each year.

Mourinho has been looking to tie De Gea down to a long-term deal for some time to help to provide him with some stability in this position and help him get United back amongst the best in Europe.
