AS Roma centre-back Kostas Manolas has revealed that he would like to play for a big club like Manchester United at some point in his career, according to a report on the Manchester Evening News.
The Greek international was one of the key players for Roma last season and scored the decisive last-minute header to dump Barcelona out of the UEFA Champions League.
With United boss Jose Mourinho looking for a new central defender this summer, Manolas could be the perfect option.
The Red Devils have been pursuing Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby ALderweireld so far this summer but after Manolas’ comments, Mourinho may be tempted to make an offer for Manolas.
The 27-year-old said:
It’s only natural you want to play for the biggest clubs, like Barcelona and Manchester United.
I think I could make the difference anywhere I went, even at Barcelona. Although I have never spoken to Barcelona.
The defender was quick to reiterate that he is happy in Italy at the moment but United will be keeping a close eye on his situation.
