Premier League side Manchester United are facing competition from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain for the signatures of AC Milan defenders Leonardo Bonucci and Alessio Romagnoli, according to a report on CalcioMercato.
The Red Devils are interested in improving their defensive unit ahead of the new season and have targeted both AC Milan centre-backs.
The Italian club is in a financial crisis and they have put several players up for sale and they are willing to sell Bonucci and Romagnoli as they look to raise funds.
They have been hit with a two-year ban by UEFA from participating in European competitions for failing to comply with the Financial Fair Play regulations.
The club is ready to listen to offers for Bonucci, with United contemplating a bid. However, they may need to submit a bid swiftly as PSG have also registered their interest.
With no European competition, Bonucci doesn’t mind leaving the San Siro and could be available for a bargain price. As for Romagnoli, he recently signed a contract extension with the club so negotiating a lower fee could prove to be difficult.
