Manchester United have long been linked with Brazilian full-back Alex Sandro.
However, it seems unlikely at this stage of the transfer window that a deal will be completed for the Juventus man to come to Old Trafford.
According to the Express, a move for Alex Sandro was blocked by Ed Woodward as he feels United currently have enough players from a defensive point of view.
Last season, Ashley Young was United’s first choice at left full-back. All in all, it has to be said that Young did a fine job. His great form deservedly earned him a place in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the World Cup. Having said that, let’s not forget, he is a winger by trade.
Moreover, it has become pretty apparent that Jose Mourinho does not fancy Luke Shaw. He has openly questioned the mentality and focus of Shaw on several occasions in the media.
The way he trains, the way he commits, the focus, the ambition. He’s a long way behind.
As a result, it is no surprise that Mourinho has identified this part of his squad as an area that is in need of strengthening.
This stance may change before the transfer window closes but as it stands, United will begin the new campaign with Luke Shaw and Ashley Young as their options at left full-back.
