Manchester United forwards Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo will not be representing their countries during the international break. The pair were called up by their nations for friendly action this week.

Sesko and Mbeumo have been excellent for United this season and played important roles in firing the Reds into the top four. They arrived at Old Trafford in big-money moves last summer.

Michael Carrick will be wary of his players potentially risking injury while playing for their countries. It appears Sesko and Mbeumo have made the decision not to do so as a precaution.

Sesko and Mbeumo Situation

According to Simon Stone of BBC Sport, Sesko and Mbeumo have pulled out of respective international duty.

Sesko’s Slovenia face Hungary on Saturday (March 28th) and Montenegro three days later in friendly matches. But the 22-year-old isn’t going to feature in either of those games and will instead be handed a lengthy break before United are next in action.

That’s also the case for Mbeumo, whose Cameroon side is also in friendly action against Australia on Friday and China next Tuesday. He will recharge his batteries for the Premier League run in with the Reds chasing Champions League football.

Fortunately, Stone claims that United expect both Sesko and Mbeumo to be fit for the encounter with Leeds United at Old Trafford on April 13th. There is no word on whether the pair are nursing knocks but both played in a 2-2 draw against Bournemouth on Friday.

Sesko has been a super-sub under Carrick and enjoyed a fine run of form since the turn of the year. He’s bagged nine goals in 26 league games, including winners against Fulham (3-2) and Everton (1-0).

Mbeumo has been a big-game player, finding the back of the net in wins against Liverpool (2-1), Manchester City (2-0) and Arsenal (3-2). He has slightly come off the boil in recent weeks and could do with a rest.

Mazraoui Called Up

Despite not playing in the draw against the Cherries, Noussair Mazraoui has been called up for Morocco’s upcoming friendlies. The African nation face Ecuador on Friday before taking on Paraguay next Tuesday.

Mazraoui represented Morocco at the African Cup of Nations before returning to the club in late January. He has come in and out of Carrick’s team, with Diogo Dalot often preferred at right-back.

The former Bayern Munich defender was left on the bench in a 3-1 win over Aston Villa last week. He sat out the Bournemouth game due to illness.
