- Manchester United want Ndiaye
- Everton star has shined this season
- Yan Diomande another option
Manchester United are reportedly eyeing Everton attacker Iliman Ndiaye and could prioritise him over Yan Diomande. It’s thought that a new winger is on the club’s radar ahead of the summer transfer window.
Patrick Dorgu’s injury in a 3-2 win over Arsenal in January means only Matheus Cunha is available on the left wing. The Brazilian has impressed since Michael Carrick took charge, but doesn’t have any viable competition.
Carrick suggested weeks ago that a new left-sided wide man could be on the cards this summer. It’s yet to be determined whether he will be in charge come August.
Man Utd Eye Ndiaye
According to UtdDistrict, United have Ndiaye high on their list of potential targets this summer. The Senegalese attacking gem is viewed as a cheaper alternative to Diomande.
The RB Leipzig winger is also of interest, but is likely to cost a “hefty” fee. Some inside the club feel he may be “too expensive” and that could see them turn to the Everton star.
Ndiaye has impressed this season, appearing 25 times in the Premier League and posting six goals and three assists. He offers a versatile profile, able to play in multiple positions, including off the left wing.
The 26-year-old has over three years left on his contract, so United don’t have the chance to sign him at a cut-price fee. But the lure of Old Trafford could help aid negotiations should the Reds want to swoop for his signature.
Diomande Could Stay at Leipzig
Ever since Carrick hinted at a new left-winger arriving at United, Diomande emerged as the favourite. The Ivorian has been sensational in the Bundesliga this season, registering 10 goals and seven assists in 26 games.
The same report suggests that Diomande might extend his stay at Red Bull Arena as he’s set to “engage in talks” over a possible contract extension. His current deal is up in June 2030, so the German outfit are likely to offer him improved terms to stave off interest from the likes of the Red Devils.
Should the 19-year-old pen a new deal with Leipzig that will almost certainly end United’s potential pursuit. But turning to Ndiaye could be the best option because of his Premier League experience.
The Reds’ priority this summer is at least one new central midfielder ahead of Casemiro’s departure. That will be the main focus, although a new attacker seems to also be part of INEOS’ plans.
