  • Galatasaray are looking for Manchester United midfielder
  • Bruno Fernandes’s important on teh squad
  • What will his legacy be?

Turkish side Galatasaray are looking to build a squad capable of competing with the best in Europe, as they monitor the situation of Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

Just three points away from their fourth successive Super Lig title, Galatasaray are closing in on a 13th league crown in the 21st century. With this, they are looking to pull further away from their rivals, Fenerbahce, who have not won a league title since 2014.

The inclusion of Fernandes would make the Turkish side incomparable within the league, as they look to build and compete in Europe.

Galatasaray Want Fernandes

According to transfer specialist Florian Plettenberg, Galatasaray are targeting both a number ten and a number eight in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Fernandes has stood as the Turkish side’s dream signing over the past year, with Galatasaray keeping close tabs on the Portuguese star across the 2025 summer and 2026 winter windows.

They view the move, however, as extremely unrealistic, with United having secured Champions League football for the first time since 2023.

If Fernandes were attracting interest from the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, or Paris Saint-Germain, then alarm bells would be ringing. But it is incredibly unlikely the Portuguese playmaker will be heading to Turkey.

With one season left on his contract and the option to extend another year, Fernandes will most likely remain at the Red Devils until 2028.

Last season, Fernandes rejected the chance to sign for Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, who not only offered United £80 million for his services, but also presented the Portuguese with a contract that would have more than doubled his already significant wages.

Fernandes’s Old Trafford Legacy

Fernandes continues to slowly edge his way into the upper echelons of Manchester United’s all-time greats. Few would have predicted that when a 25-year-old Portuguese attacking midfielder arrived in the winter of 2020, he would develop into one of the defining figures of the club’s modern era.

Team underperformance does, however, hold him back on an all-time scale. Across six years at the club, he has collected just two trophies—the EFL Cup and the FA Cup.

Had Fernandes secured victory in both the 2021 and 2025 Europa League finals, he might already be remembered among the very greatest to grace Old Trafford.

The United captain’s displays in those finals do diminish his standing. His individual performances, however, remain exceptional.

In an otherwise substandard side, Fernandes has repeatedly lifted Old Trafford with his innate technical quality and his capacity to alter matches in an instant.

The 2025/26 season has arguably marked his finest in a United shirt. Across all competitions, he has recorded 28 goal involvements, and in the Premier League alone, he sits just one short of the elusive 20-assist mark, a record held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.

Match or surpass that total, and Fernandes does not simply enter the record books; he secures a place that resonates far beyond them.
