- Man Utd ‘like’ Abde Ezzalzouli
- Amad and Patrick Dorgu’s futures could be at risk
- Red Devils want a new left winger
Manchester United are reportedly eyeing former Barcelona winger Abde Ezzalzouli, and that could be bad news for Amad Diallo and Patrick Dorgu. The Moroccan has emerged as a potential summer transfer target.
According to Ben Jacobs, while speaking on The United Stand, the Red Devils are “looking at Ezzalzouli” and they “really like him.” A product of Barca’s La Masia academy, he has caught the eye at Real Betis this season.
Ezzalzouli has been in excellent form, registering 14 goals and 13 assists in 41 games across competitions. He is a left winger who is earning rave reviews in La Liga.
Man Utd Like Ezzalzouli
United’s interest in Ezzalzouli comes amid Amad’s stagnating form. The Ivorian has endured a nosedive since returning from the African Cup of Nations.
The 23-year-old has managed just two goals and three assists in 31 games across competitions. His lack of end product is a concern and he’s looked devoid of confidence in recent months.
If United were to swoop for Ezzalzouli it could jeopardise Amad’s future at Old Trafford. He’s been with the Reds since early 2021 but has yet to truly explode into the world-class talent many anticipated.
Amad isn’t the only one whose future could be in doubt should the Moroccan arrive this summer. Patrick Dorgu has recently returned from a lengthy spell out with a hamstring injury.
Dorgu was a starter under Michael Carrick when the English coach replaced Ruben Amorim in January. But the 21-year-old has missed the vast majority of the second half of the season and Matheus Cunha has nailed down the left wing starting berth.
United need strength in depth ahead of a return to the UEFA Champions League next season. But players like Amad and Dorgu will want regular game time at this stage of their careers.
Amad and Dorgu Uncertainty
A recent report from The Sun claims that Dorgu is now primarily viewed as a left-winger. That change has come amid Carrick’s appointment and a switch from a back five to a back four.
Dorgu isn’t a full-back and isn’t required to perform the role of a wing-back in Carrick’s system. That’s why the Dane might struggle to get the desired minutes next season.
A summer exit for the Danish winger and Amad is probably off the cards, although there has been talk of interest being shown in the latter. While INEOS intend to strengthen the squad with additions, they will be assessing which players to offload.
