- Man Utd ready two-year deal for Michael Carrick
- Contract offer will include one-year extension option
- INEOS have got it spot on
Manchester United are reportedly set to offer Michael Carrick a two-year deal to continue as head coach. The Red Devils have seemingly decided Carrick is their man and are ready to officially hand him the permanent job.
According to SullyTalkz via Roundtable, Carrick will be offered an initial two-year contract until June 2028. There will also be a one-year option to extend said deal.
Carrick has made a huge impact since replacing Ruben Amorim in January, initially taking over until the end of the season. He has guided his former playing club back to the UEFA Champions League with a top-five finish.
It’s Carrick For at Least Two Years
Carrick has been in pole position for many months, but it’s been stressed that INEOS are still doing their due diligence. This development suggests they have made up their minds and decided to permanently appoint the 44-year-old.
CEO Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox have been impressed with Carrick and how he’s handled the media and the squad. He’s also overseen an impressive 10 wins and two defeats in 15 games, including victories over Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Chelsea.
Carrick is said to have been involved in the recruitment process as the club looks to continue their rebuild. He is expected to be backed by at least two new midfielders with Casemiro departing in June.

The Right Call
United have made far too many managerial mistakes in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era. Appointing Carrick on a two-year deal wouldn’t be one of them.
Carrick has proven he can handle the pressure and demand that comes with the Old Trafford hotseat. Handing him a shorter-than-usual contract is wise, given the twists and turns that have occurred since Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.
The English coach will focus on delivering short-term success and potentially building a United team that can compete against the very best both domestically and in Europe. He is almost under trial to see if he can be the long-term heir that the Reds have been crying out for since Ferguson.
After two years, if the team and the club are challenging for trophies than a one-year option is there to extend. If the Red Devils find themselves still a step away from major success, they can opt to look elsewhere with high-profile names such as Luis Enrique and Thomas Tuchel potentially available.
