- Man Utd want to sign Aurelien Tchouameni
- Fabrizio Romano update doesn’t sound promising
- Real Madrid star is the ideal Casemiro heir
Manchester United’s search for an elite Casemiro replacement has led them right to the top of European football, but Fabrizio Romano has just dealt a crushing blow over dreams of landing Aurelien Tchouameni.
For weeks, speculation has simmered regarding United’s concrete interest in Real Madrid’s Tchouameni. The French international is widely regarded as the ideal number six needed to transform the Red Devils’ engine room.
However, speaking on the latest status of the deal, Romano revealed that United have huge obstacles in their efforts to bring the player to Old Trafford.
“Two major problems” – Romano on Tchouameni
While decision-makers at Old Trafford view Tchouameni as the absolute “ideal” signing, the logistics of pulling off a deal are proving to be virtually impossible right now.
Romano, while speaking on his YouTube channel, outlined two massive roadblocks currently stopping any potential transfer in its tracks:
“Aurelien Tchouameni and (Man Utd) there are two problems. The first one is the huge salary, and the second is Madrid saying in public and in private that they intend to keep him.”
Romano went on to explain the painful gap between United’s internal desires and what is actually achievable on the market.
“If you ask me who could be the ideal defensive midfielder for United, at the club they believe that it could be Tchouameni, but then the reality is different. The negotiations are never easy for such top players like Tchouameni. That’s the status of the story as of today.”
Tchouameni fits the bill for United because he is such a dominant defensive midfielder. He replaced Casemiro at Madrid and has become a world-class talent.
A painful reality check
It is incredibly frustrating for United fans to hear that the club has perfectly identified the solution to Casemiro’s exit but are struggling to sign their top targets. Tchouameni has the elite physical presence, defensive intelligence, and passing range to anchor a world-class midfield.
Unfortunately, dealing with Madrid when they have zero desire to sell is a losing battle. Combined with the financial fair play implications of absorbing another astronomical salary, INEOS will likely have to cross the Frenchman’s name off their wishlist.
United clearly have the right scouting vision under the new regime, but they must now quickly pivot to more realistic, attainable targets before the transfer window passes them by.
