Man Utd monitor £100m England international missing World Cup

  • Man Utd eyeing Morgan Gibbs-White
  • Red Devils one of four clubs keeping tabs
  • Nottingham Forest star could cost £100m

Manchester United are actively exploring options to reshuffle their midfield dynamic this summer, and a major Premier League star has emerged on their radar.

According to Mail Sport, United are among the clubs monitoring Morgan Gibbs-White’s situation as the summer transfer window begins to heat up.

The 26-year-old playmaker is coming off the most productive season of his career, scoring 18 goals across 53 appearances in all competitions for Nottingham Forest. His brilliant form dragged Forest away from relegation trouble and inspired a historic run to the Europa League semi-finals.

However, his high-profile exploits have made him a primary target for top-tier clubs looking for elite creativity.

Man Utd monitor Gibbs-White

Unsurprisingly, Nottingham Forest are desperate to hold onto their talisman. The club wants him to remain at the City Ground for at least one more season to build on their European progress.

Because he is under a long-term contract and viewed as completely indispensable, reports indicate that it would take an astronomical fee, potentially testing a £100 million valuation, for Forest to even consider discussions at the negotiating table.

United also aren’t the only club interested, as Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Aston Villa are also admirers. He is one of several names to be linked with the club along with his teammate Elliot Anderson.

Forest star won’t be at World Cup

Despite racking up a combined 25 goals and assists this past campaign, Gibbs-White was shockingly left out of Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the 2026 World Cup. The omission left many pundits and fans stunned.

Gibbs-White himself admitted he felt he had done “more than enough” to earn his spot on the plane. While the midfielder spends his summer recharging on vacation rather than playing on the world stage, his focus will inevitably shift to his club future as elite suitors circle.

With minor question marks lingering over the long-term future of Bruno Fernandes, United are proactively tracking elite number 10s who possess work rate, leadership, and a proven track record in England. Gibbs-White checks every single box.
