- Man Utd battling Man City for Iliman Ndiaye
- Everton star now on Citizens’ wishlist
- Red Devils want a new left winger
Manchester United have reportedly been joined by Manchester City in the race to sign Everton attacker Iliman Ndiaye. The Senegalese winger is on United’s wishlist as the club look to bolster Michael Carrick’s left-wing options.
According to Alan Nixon on Patreon, City are now eyeing Ndiaye and will likely be watching the 26-year-old during the World Cup. He impressed under David Moyes last season, featuring 32 times in the league, posting six goals and three assists.
The Citizens are building a squad for Enzo Maresca, who is set to succeed Pep Guardiola. Ndiaye is just one of several United transfer targets the Etihad football outfit are also keen on.
Man City rival Man Utd for Ndiaye
United reportedly hold an interest in Ndiaye but have been told that Everton value the player at €80m (£70m). That fee could put them off, given the main focus this summer is on overhauling Carrick’s midfield.
Elliot Anderson has been the Red Devils’ top target, but Nottingham Forest is demanding over £100m. City have already had a bid rejected for the English midfielder, who is leaning towards a move to the Etihad over Old Trafford.
If City fail to sign Anderson, they are set to turn their attention to Sandro Tonali. The Newcastle United midfielder is another player the Reds are targeting as part of a midfield rebuild.
Another Manchester transfer war
Ndiaye isn’t a priority for United and if he were to join City it wouldn’t be too much of a setback. But it’s just another name on a growing list of players both Manchester clubs are battling for.
Fortunately, City don’t seem to be in the race to sign West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes. The Portuguese midfielder is on INEOS’ shortlist but Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain appear to be the biggest threats in the tug-of-war for his signature.
United are already swooping for Ederson from Atalanta and have agreed a deal for the Brazilian. They ideally sign a new left winger but City’s interest in Ndiaye might mean they have to look elsewhere.
