Manchester United are weighing up Harry Amass’ next step as the 19-year-old left-back pushes for another Championship loan before the new season.
The defender, who spent last season with Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich City, is keen to keep playing senior football rather than sit on the edge of Michael Carrick’s squad, according to a fresh update from The Sun on Harry Amass’ Manchester United future.
That leaves United with a decision that matters beyond one academy player. Tyrell Malacia has gone, Luke Shaw is the only senior natural left-back, and Patrick Dorgu has been used further forward, while Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui are more natural on the right.
Amass Decision Comes Amid United Left-Back Search
Amass is under contract until 2027 and may yet be assessed on the pre-season tour, but United also know his development stalled when a hamstring injury cut short his Norwich spell. The club’s previous loan decisions showed they wanted him exposed to senior football, not boxed into academy minutes.
The cleanest route could be to let him travel with Carrick first, then decide whether regular Championship minutes offer more value than emergency cover at Old Trafford. For a club already short on the left, that call now looks more strategic than routine.
