Harry Maguire Man Utd Story Takes New World Cup Twist

Harry Maguire Man Utd story has taken a different World Cup twist after the defender joined fan events in New York despite missing England’s squad.

The 33-year-old was left out of Thomas Tuchel’s 26-man squad for the tournament, having previously admitted he felt shocked and gutted by the decision.

Maguire has still headed stateside to support the event and engage with fans.

According to The Sun, he handed out Panini stickers at Rockefeller Center before attending a Manchester United-themed fan bar near Times Square for a meet and greet and Q&A session.

The centre-back also joined Gary Lineker on The Rest Is Football, where he discussed the England call that ended his World Cup hopes.

Maguire Keeps Man Utd Profile High Despite England Snub

For Manchester United, the story is not just about England disappointment.

Maguire remains a senior figure at Old Trafford after a consistent club season under Michael Carrick. He scored once and registered two assists last term, while continuing to play a prominent role in United’s back line.

That is what makes the New York appearance useful context.

Maguire could easily have stayed away from the noise around the World Cup, but instead he has remained visible, positive and connected to supporters.

The Sun reported that he posed with fans on Instagram and said it was “always good to see the fans around the world”.

ReadManUtd has already looked at Harry Maguire’s England World Cup snub and Thomas Tuchel call, and this latest update gives that story a softer follow-up.

The squad omission still matters, especially given Maguire’s 66 England caps and his reaction to missing out.

But from a United perspective, his public response also says something about his standing.

He is not at the World Cup as a player, but he is still carrying himself like a senior professional with a global fanbase.

England have moved on without him after beating Croatia 4-2 in their opener.

Maguire, meanwhile, has found a way to stay part of the wider tournament atmosphere while keeping his United connection visible.
