Manchester United will begin their 2026/27 Premier League season away to Hull City on Saturday, August 22, with Michael Carrick’s side then hosting Ipswich Town in their first Old Trafford league fixture of the campaign.
The full fixture list has now been released, with the Premier League confirming a 12:30 UK kick-off at Hull on the opening Saturday. United then welcome Ipswich on August 29 before travelling to Everton on September 5.
The early headline, though, is the first Manchester derby. United are scheduled to host Manchester City on Saturday, September 12, in the same week Carrick’s side return to Champions League action, according to Sky Sports’ Manchester United fixture guide.
Carrick gets early platform before derby test
That opening run gives United a useful chance to build rhythm before the calendar hardens. Hull and Ipswich both arrive as newly promoted opponents, while Everton away will give Carrick a sterner gauge of where his squad stands after pre-season.
The derby timing is the real pressure point. United will want momentum before City arrive at Old Trafford, but the Champions League return around the same period means selection, rotation and fitness management will quickly become central to Carrick’s first full Premier League campaign in charge.
United also face key pre-Christmas tests away to Chelsea on October 31, Liverpool on November 21 and Arsenal on December 19, making the opening month an important opportunity to bank points before the fixture list becomes far less forgiving.
