Manchester United receive transfer boost after Leeds u-turn

Manchester United are looking to add an experienced goalkeeper to their squad to provide cover and competition for Senne Lammens.

Karl Darlow has keen admirers at Old Trafford, and Sky Sports confirm via MEN that the Leeds United man is now considering a transfer despite being offered a new contract.

Andre Onana is set to be offloaded permanently this summer, while Atlay Bayindir is also expected to move on after failing to make an impression at the club.

And now, Darlow appears as if he is warming up to the possibility of moving to Manchester United this summer.

Manchester United show Karl Darlow interest

Leeds United have already confirmed the departure of Illan Meslier, who is wanted by Arsenal on a free transfer.

Last season, Darlow shared goalkeeping duties with Lucas Perri at Elland Road.

And now, with Daniel Farke’s side on the lookout for a new shot-stopper, Darlow could be set for a move.

They have offered him a new contract, but Sky Sports claim he is considering all his options.

Their report reads, “Manchester United are one of the clubs showing an interest in Karl Darlow, who is available on a free transfer.

“Leeds have offered the player a new contract, but he is considering his options, with United looking to add to their goalkeeping options amid speculation over the future of Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana.

“United face competition from Everton, who are looking to add to a goalkeeping group that includes Jordan Pickford and Mark Travers.”

A smart addition for the Red Devils

Darlow is an experienced campaigner and would arrive on a free transfer to deputise for Lammens.

Manchester United have other transfer priorities this summer, so they can save some of their transfer kitty by signing a backup goalkeeper on the cheap.

Onana and Bayindir are set to move on and to be fair, neither of them have proved to be good enough to warrant a place in the squad.

Darlow featured 22 times for Leeds United last season, which is an indication that he has plenty of football left in the tank.

However, Leeds have offered him a new contract and he also has interest from other clubs, so United may once again be frustrated in the transfer market.

After losing both Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes to Tottenham Hotspur, the Red Devils are assessing their options and only want to sign players who are desperate to play for the club.

And whether or not that is the case with Darlow remains to be seen.
