Manchester United’s hopes of signing Aurélien Tchouaméni have been checked by Real Madrid’s stance that the midfielder is not for sale.
The France international remains one of the high-end names linked with United’s midfield rebuild, but Madrid are not currently showing any desire to let him leave.
Manchester Evening News reports that United would be in the market if Tchouaméni became available, but that outcome is considered unlikely at this stage.
That fits the wider Madrid position. MEN’s latest transfer piece also notes that Tchouaméni remains on United’s shortlist, although there has not yet been an indication that Real are willing sellers.
Tchouaméni Gives United A Midfield Reality Check
The logic behind United’s interest is easy to understand. Michael Carrick needs a powerful defensive-midfield profile who can protect transitions, win duels and give the team a more stable platform.
Tchouaméni fits that brief, but the deal has always depended on Madrid opening the door.
