Wonderkid JJ Gabriel joins Man United first-team squad at Carrington

JJ Gabriel has joined Manchester United’s squad at Carrington ahead of pre-season, giving Michael Carrick an early look at one of the club’s most talked-about academy players.

The 15-year-old forward is now working around the senior group as United begin preparations for the new campaign.

Gabriel’s involvement is not a first-team promotion in the traditional sense. At this stage, it looks more like exposure: a chance to train at the pace, intensity and standard Carrick expects from his players.

ReadManUtd previously covered United’s pre-season plan for Gabriel, and his latest step suggests the club are following through on that pathway.

United Give Gabriel Early Senior Exposure

Gabriel has become one of the more closely watched players in United’s academy.

His goalscoring at youth level has already drawn attention, while The Sun reported this week that United are working to keep him away from rival European interest. Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have both been linked with the teenager.

ReadManUtd has also highlighted Gabriel’s form compared with Arsenal youngster Max Dowman, which explains why his development has become a talking point around Carrington.

United have to handle this carefully. Gabriel is still only 15, and the club do not need to rush him for headlines.

The value is in the environment. Carrick and his staff can see how he handles senior training, while Gabriel gets a clearer picture of the level required.

For United, it also sends a message. The academy route remains open, and Gabriel is now getting a closer look at where it can lead.
