Manchester United goalkeeper Radek Vitek has confirmed he wants to leave Old Trafford and become a regular starter next season.
The 22-year-old played the second half of United’s 1-0 pre-season defeat against Wrexham in Helsinki. He kept a clean sheet during his appearance and produced several saves.
However, Vitek views his involvement as temporary rather than an opportunity to compete with Senne Lammens for the number-one shirt.
Speaking after the match, Vitek revealed that several clubs have already expressed an interest. He is willing to consider another loan or a permanent transfer, depending on United’s preference.
“I’m ready to go somewhere again and hopefully be number one,” Vitek told BBC Sport, as syndicated by AOL.
United could cash in on Vitek
Vitek’s stance gives Manchester United a decision over one of their most valuable academy players.
The Czech goalkeeper has two years remaining on his contract after signing an extension before joining Bristol City last summer.
He then made 41 appearances, kept 12 clean sheets and collected three end-of-season awards at Ashton Gate. His performances strengthened his reputation as one of the Championship’s most promising young goalkeepers.

A permanent sale could help United generate funds from their academy system. The club could also protect itself by negotiating a buy-back option and a sizeable sell-on clause.
Another loan would preserve United’s control over Vitek, but the destination must offer regular starts at a suitable level. The goalkeeper has made clear that another season on the bench would not help his development.
Vitek could remain involved when Michael Carrick’s side face Rosenborg on Friday, 24 July. His longer-term priority is settled, with the goalkeeper seeking a club willing to make him their first choice.
