Will Amad Diallo leave Manchester United this summer? The winger has been linked with a move away for a little while after enduring an underwhelming 25/26 campaign.
After registering 11 goals and 10 assists in the 24/25 season, it had looked like Amad had finally arrived. He was finally looking like the super talent the club had signed from Atalanta after just five senior appearances.
But then, the winger’s numbers dropped significantly last season. He managed just two goals and four assists, not even a third of what he had managed the year before.
Naturally, questions have arisen surrounding his future. But according to Fabrizio Romano, Amad’s camp were informed in June of Manchester United’s stance. They have no intention to let him go this summer. Man Utd maintain that they want to keep and trust Diallo.
Why Manchester United want to continue with Amad
There is no doubt about the talent that Amad possesses. And we have seen a glimpse of that already with his fantastic 24/25 campaign.
If that had not been there as proof that he can deliver in the Premier League, perhaps Manchester United would have been open to Amad’s exit this summer.
After all, he has already spent more than half a decade on the books at Old Trafford. The 24/25 campaign must have convinced Man Utd though that he is a player worth keeping their patience in.
In the past, there have been many times when it has looked like Amad was not good enough to ever make it at Manchester United. This is not one of them.
Next season might be make or break for Amad
At the same time, Amad is now 24. He can no longer be considered a wonderkid. It is about time that he establishes himself as a nailed-on starter for Manchester United.
As a result, the upcoming season is going to be vital for Amad and his long-term future at Manchester United. Another poor campaign, and even Man Utd might no longer be willing to continue trusting the winger.
Of course, there will be a lot more chances for Amad to impress, now that Manchester United are back in the Champions League. There will be more minutes to go around the squad.
That being said, Man United seem intent on strengthening their ranks this summer. So, Amad might have some serious competition on his hands from next season.
Then again, that’s life at Manchester United. If you cannot compete for your place in the time, you are never going to last long at Old Trafford.
