Manchester United have completed the Karim Cassim transfer after convincing the highly rated midfielder to leave Manchester City. The 16-year-old will now continue his development within United’s academy system.
Manchester United Youth confirmed Cassim’s arrival, reporting that the midfielder has crossed the city with fellow prospect David Eze. United had been working on the move after identifying both players as leading academy targets.
Cassim played above his age group for Manchester City last season. He made ten Under-18 Premier League appearances and scored three goals despite beginning the campaign aged 15.
The England Under-17 international can operate as a number six, eight or ten. His passing, decision-making and ability to contribute goals have earned him a strong reputation at youth level.

The Karim Cassim transfer strengthens United’s efforts to recruit leading young players from rival academies. INEOS have placed greater focus on securing prospects before their values rise at senior level.
United also officially signed Tynan Thompson from Tottenham earlier this week. The 18-year-old winger joined after featuring regularly for Spurs at Under-18 and Under-21 level.
Cassim made his Manchester City Under-18 debut during a victory over Newcastle in January. He later became a regular and produced several impressive midfield performances.
United are unlikely to rush the teenager into Michael Carrick’s senior squad. However, strong academy performances could eventually create opportunities around first-team training.
The deal represents another significant academy addition from a Premier League rival. United will now hope Cassim develops into a future Old Trafford midfielder.
