Joshua Zirkzee’s Manchester United exit could be delayed while Benjamin Sesko continues his recovery from injury.
The Netherlands forward is attracting interest from Italy, with a loan return to Serie A considered the most likely outcome.
Manchester Evening News reporter Tyrone Marshall says United are reluctant to reduce their attacking options until Sesko returns to full fitness.
The Slovenian missed the end of last season with a shin problem and has followed an individual rehabilitation programme during pre-season. Michael Carrick therefore has limited senior options available through the middle.
United could approve Zirkzee’s departure once Sesko is ready to train and play without restrictions. However, any interested club may need to wait before holding advanced negotiations.
The update comes after Juventus made contact over a possible deal. ReadManUtd previously reported that the Italian club had enquired about the conditions required to sign Zirkzee.

A permanent agreement currently appears difficult. United reportedly value Zirkzee at between €35million and €40million, while Italian clubs may prefer a temporary deal.
Zirkzee already knows Serie A after spells with Parma and Bologna. He produced his best senior campaign under Thiago Motta at Bologna before completing a £36.5million move to Old Trafford in 2024.
The 25-year-old strengthened his case for further opportunities during United’s 5-0 friendly victory over Rosenborg. He assisted Shea Lacey’s opening goal before scoring with an excellent individual finish.
That performance may not change United’s long-term position, but it underlined the risk of allowing him to leave before Sesko is available.
