Andy Mitten has placed the chances of a Marcus Rashford United return at 80%, marking a major change from earlier in the year. The forward is back at Manchester United following loan spells with Aston Villa and Barcelona.
Speaking on the Talk of the Devils podcast, Mitten revealed that he previously saw almost no route back for the academy graduate.
“I would’ve said in February or March that there would be a five or 10% chance of Marcus Rashford playing for Manchester United again,” he said.
“I’d say there’s now an 80% chance.”
Mitten’s latest Rashford comments represent another positive development for a player whose Old Trafford career appeared close to ending.

Rashford has not represented United since December 2024, having spent time on loan with Villa and Barcelona.
Barcelona decided against completing a permanent transfer this summer. Rashford must therefore report back to United, where Michael Carrick can assess him during pre-season.
ReadManUtd previously reported that Simon Stone viewed a return as the likeliest outcome. The forward remains under contract until June 2028, while the market for a permanent departure has failed to develop.
A place in Carrick’s squad would not automatically guarantee regular starts. United have strengthened their attacking options, and Rashford would need to earn his position after spending 18 months away from the club.
However, Carrick offers him a fresh start under a manager with whom he has not previously worked. Rashford also returns after helping England finish third at the World Cup.
Manchester United still appear willing to consider suitable transfer proposals. Mitten’s assessment suggests a sale is no longer viewed as the overwhelming outcome.
