Fabrizio Romano confirms Everton move for Man United striker

Everton are preparing to make a formal approach to Manchester United for Ethan Wheatley.

The interest has intensified, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that the Toffees are putting together a proposal for the 20-year-old striker.

Romano reports that Everton are interested in the United academy graduate and are expected to approach Old Trafford soon.

GIVEMESPORT has also relayed Romano’s update, although no proposed fee or agreement between the clubs has yet been reported.

Wheatley returned to United this summer following loan spells with Northampton Town and Bradford City last season.

The forward also featured during Michael Carrick’s pre-season preparations, including the friendly against Wrexham.

Ethan Wheatley Everton transfer could lead to permanent exit

Wheatley became Manchester United’s 250th academy graduate when he made his first-team debut against Sheffield United in April 2024.

He has made four senior appearances for United and remains under contract until 2028, with the club holding an option for another year.

Everton’s interest therefore leaves United with a decision over the next stage of his development.

Carrick already has Benjamin Šeško and Joshua Zirkzee among his senior centre-forward options, while United continue to explore another addition.

ReadManUtd reported on Friday that United have submitted a £30million bid in their pursuit of another striker.

Wheatley would face significant competition for first-team minutes if another forward arrives.

A move to Everton could offer the England youth international a clearer route into Premier League football, although negotiations have not yet started.

For now, Everton are preparing their proposal and United are awaiting the expected formal approach.
