Manchester United are preparing a reported £60million bid for Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall. The Lewis Hall Manchester United transfer has moved forward after Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the 21-year-old has been internally approved at Old Trafford.
Hall has emerged as Michael Carrick’s leading target at left-back as United look to strengthen the position before the new season.
TEAMtalk reports that an opening proposal is being prepared, with Newcastle valuing the England international at around £60m.
Romano has separately confirmed that United consider Hall an ideal addition and have already made contacts to understand the situation.
Newcastle, however, remain reluctant to sell.
Lewis Hall Manchester United transfer faces Newcastle obstacle
United’s interest is not new.
ReadManUtd reported earlier on Saturday that Hall is currently United’s top left-back target, with Barcelona defender Alejandro Balde also considered as an alternative.
Romano says Hall has been “internally approved” by United, but stressed that Newcastle intend to make negotiations difficult.
The Magpies have already lost several major players this summer and do not want Hall to become another departure.
United therefore still need to convince Newcastle before the Lewis Hall Manchester United transfer can progress towards an agreement.
Carrick currently has Luke Shaw as his main established option at left-back, making the position one of United’s remaining priorities.
Hall offers Premier League experience despite being only 21 and can also step into midfield when his side have possession.
For now, the next significant development will be whether United formalise their interest with the reported opening offer.
