Former Manchester United midfielder Casemiro endured a nightmare first home appearance for Inter Miami after scoring an own goal in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Columbus Crew.
The move followed the expiry of his Manchester United contract this summer, but his first appearance in front of his new supporters produced an unwanted moment.
Luis Suárez had put Miami ahead after 16 minutes before Casemiro inadvertently levelled the scores with an own goal in the 34th minute.
Inter Miami recovered to lead 2-1 before half-time through Noah Allen, only for Brais Méndez to earn Columbus a point late in the second half.
The Manchester Evening News described the moment as a disastrous error during Casemiro’s home debut.

Inter Miami’s official match report confirms the Brazilian’s own goal came in the 34th minute as Columbus cancelled out Suárez’s opener. Miami eventually had to settle for a 2-2 draw.
For Manchester United supporters, the sight of Casemiro in MLS still feels relatively new.
ReadManUtd previously covered Casemiro completing his free transfer to Inter Miami after four seasons at Old Trafford.
The 34-year-old left when his United contract expired, bringing an end to a spell which included League Cup and FA Cup success.
Michael Carrick has since rebuilt his midfield around younger options, with Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans both arriving this summer.
Casemiro will hope his Miami career proves considerably more memorable than his first appearance in front of the club’s home support.
