Casemiro’s Manchester United Exit Confirmed As Inter Miami Complete Messi Reunion Deal

Casemiro has completed his free transfer to Inter Miami, bringing his four-year Manchester United career to an official end as he reunites with Lionel Messi in Florida.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the move is now done, with all formal steps resolved after Inter Miami agreed to pay LA Galaxy a compensation fee — reported at up to £750,000 — to unlock the “discovery rights” the Galaxy held over the Brazilian under MLS roster rules. Sky Sports had tracked Miami and Galaxy’s rival chase for Casemiro’s signature for weeks before Romano’s confirmation that the Herons had won out.

Michael Carrick’s Rebuild Continues With Casemiro’s Old Trafford Departure

Casemiro leaves as a free agent after his contract expired on 30 June, closing a spell that began with his move from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022. United have already moved to fill the gap he leaves in midfield, sealing a £50m deal for Andrey Santos from Chelsea earlier this month.

Casemiro will be registered during MLS’s secondary transfer window, which opened on Monday, meaning his Herons debut alongside Messi falls some way off yet. For Michael Carrick, the exit draws a symbolic line under one era in central midfield — though United’s other summer business shows the search for control in that area is far from finished.
