‘Great move’ – Jermaine Jenas urges £60m star to join Man Utd

Jermaine Jenas has urged Lewis Hall to complete a move to Manchester United, describing a potential Old Trafford switch as a “great move” for the Newcastle United defender.

The Lewis Hall Manchester United transfer story continues to gather pace, with the 21-year-old among Michael Carrick’s leading targets at left-back.

Jenas spent three years at Newcastle but believes Hall should take the opportunity if United can agree a deal. Speaking to 10bet, he praised the defender’s development and suggested moving to Old Trafford would represent another significant step in his career.

“I think it’s a great move for him, I really do,” Jenas said.

United’s interest in Hall has intensified over recent days. ReadManUtd reported on Monday that United are pushing to sign Hall after he reportedly rejected the possibility of returning to Chelsea, although Newcastle remain reluctant to lose him.

Hall has emerged as Carrick’s preferred option as United look to strengthen at left-back. Luke Shaw remains the club’s most experienced specialist in the position, while Carrick wants greater competition and depth ahead of a return to European football.

Reports have suggested United are preparing an opening proposal worth around £60m. Fabrizio Romano has also described Hall as internally approved by United, although he stressed Newcastle do not want to sell and no agreement has been reached.

Jenas nevertheless believes the move would suit both the player and United. He described Hall as consistent and improving year after year, while admitting his departure would represent a significant loss for Newcastle.

Hall joined Newcastle from Chelsea after progressing through the academy at Stamford Bridge. He has since established himself as a regular Premier League left-back, although he missed out on England’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.

For United, the immediate challenge remains convincing Newcastle to negotiate. However, Jenas believes Hall should have little hesitation if Carrick’s side can turn their interest into a firm agreement.
