Manchester United confirm record £20m-a-year sponsorship deal

The Manchester United Betway deal has been officially confirmed, with the club securing a record training-kit sponsorship reportedly worth around £20million per year.

Betway has become an Official Principal Partner ahead of the 2026/27 season after United spent the whole of last season without a dedicated training-kit sponsor.

The multi-year agreement will see the betting company’s branding feature across the men’s and women’s first-team training wear and warm-up clothing.

The Times reports that the agreement is worth around £20million annually, with United describing it as the biggest standalone training-kit or shirt-sleeve sponsorship in football.

Manchester United Betway deal adds major new revenue

The Manchester United Betway deal fills a significant gap in the club’s commercial portfolio following the expiry of their previous agreement with Tezos in 2025.

United deliberately went through last season without a replacement before completing the Betway agreement following their return to the Champions League.

Chief business officer Marc Armstrong said the scale of the partnership reflected United’s growth strategy and the club’s continued global appeal to major brands.

The agreement also comes as Premier League clubs stop using gambling companies as front-of-shirt sponsors from the 2026/27 campaign. Training wear is not covered by that voluntary restriction.

For United, the new revenue arrives while Michael Carrick and the recruitment department decide how to use their remaining resources before the transfer deadline.

ReadManUtd reported earlier on Tuesday that United are reconsidering where to allocate their remaining transfer budget, with another midfielder no longer guaranteed to arrive.

A left-back remains under consideration, while United are also monitoring opportunities in attack.

The Betway agreement will not dictate individual transfer decisions. However, another major source of commercial income strengthens United’s wider financial position as the club prepare for Champions League football and the closing weeks of the summer window.
