Gabby George Leaves United for Brighton
Manchester United Women have confirmed that defender Gabby George has left the club to join Brighton & Hove Albion. The permanent move was announced on Thursday, as reported by Reuters, bringing the defender’s spell at the Red Devils to a close.
Gabby George departs early in the Olid era
The exit is one of the first pieces of business since Eva Olid took charge at Leigh Sports Village. George swaps one Women’s Super League side for another, joining a Brighton team keen to strengthen at the back before the new campaign. She leaves behind a United squad still captained by Maya Le Tissier.
United confirmed the transfer on the club’s official website, with Goal.com reporting a six-figure agreement. The Red Devils did not disclose the fee or the length of George’s contract on the south coast.
Olid takes charge of her first game this weekend, and a reshaped defence is one of the areas the new head coach must settle before the WSL season kicks off. Keep across the latest from United Women as the campaign draws closer.
