Rooney and Goldbridge Set for New Man Utd Show on Disney+

Wayne Rooney and Mark Goldbridge are set to front a new Manchester United show, the BBC reports. The Rooney and Goldbridge pairing comes as part of a fresh streaming agreement between Gary Neville’s The Overlap and Disney+, first reported by The Athletic.

The deal, described by the Manchester Evening News as a multi-million pound agreement, will see The Overlap’s content streamed on Disney+, with the dedicated United programme among the new additions. According to Deadline, the move is Disney+’s answer to Netflix’s growing push into football podcasts — and it hands the Red Devils a primetime slot in the streaming wars.

Rooney and Goldbridge: a double act to get United talking

On paper, it is one of the more unlikely pairings of the summer. Rooney, United’s record goalscorer and former captain, will sit alongside Goldbridge, who has built one of the biggest online followings in football with his United fan coverage. A club legend who has seen it all from the inside, next to the internet’s most animated United fan — whatever else the show turns out to be, it will not be short of opinions.

Neither The Overlap nor Disney+ has confirmed a launch date or format yet, so further details are still to come. With the final pre-season friendly against Milan on Saturday and the Premier League opener away at Hull City on 22 August fast approaching, the new duo should have plenty of material from day one — and supporters can keep across all the latest United news right here.
